[when oikawa originally booked his return flight home after the closing ceremonies it had been with the entire intention of staying behind in japan for two whole weeks. he came with his team, and had been super focused on practicing and making sure everything went well leading up to their matches. he figured that, well... if things didn't go smoothly he could wallow his sorrows with his family and friends.
oikawa planned for a lot of things, he just... never really planned for this. he didn't want to give himself the luxury of thinking that he could actually reach his unattainable dreams. and somewhere a part inside oikawa was ready to fight that nasty train of thought. he blamed being back in his homeland for digging up those thoughts he had buried away all those years ago. (there's the reason why he never wanted to leave argentina.)
the closing ceremony felt like a dream come true. he was practically floating on cloud nine when he went down the parade route once again with half of his team and fellow olympians who also stayed behind.
he stayed the last night in the olympic village, but could hardly sleep a wink. he was too excited and happy that it left him buzzing all night. he could have joined his rowdy teammates, but he knew he would need to have things in order so he could trek it over to his parents. and he was sure they would be ushering people out as quickly as they could. (also a part of him knew he wasn't going to be able to get another nights rest on that cardboard bed. he completely forgot how... resourceful japan could be with their waste efforts. as admirable as it was, it definitely did not do his back any wonders.) he was awake before his alarm went off.
once he made sure he had everything he left with a tired yawn. the only thing he wasn't expecting to do was to run right into someone. with a resounding oof, he stumbles backwards as his back hits the door of his room.]
Ah lo siento--

[he smiles and takes a step forward. he reaches forward to grab at iwa-chan's hand, but then stops himself. instead he plays it off by brushing a strand of hair behind his ear.] Yes, how's mama-chan doing?

[ reaches up to lightly poke his forehead ]She's doing fine, asking about you, as always. I swear she cares about you more than her own son.
[ starts to lead the way ] You can see her tomorrow, if you want.
[ leaving unsaid "tonight you belong to me." ]

Well what can I say, Iwa-chan? I've always been a pleaser to the ladies. I take my time to listen to them, and ask them how their day has gone. I also write to your mom too! Every month. [he nods and mmhm's to himself quietly. his gaze flicks over to look at iwaizumi and. he feels his whole face heat up with the words left unsaid.]
