[you'd think onoda would change things up on his birthday, but no. he did the exact same thing he always did. once school let out he would ride his bike all the way to akiba and check out the latest merchandise at his favorite store. but instead of buying something he would instead use his money to purchase a little cake for he and his mom to eat.

sure he didn't have to buy one. but, well.... she took the time to make him his favorite meal, so it... was only natural for him to want to do something in return for her???

but wait-- he stops in his tracks as he sees someone with green hair pass by his peripheral. at first he thought it was his imagination running rampant. still.... he can't help the urge to look regardless.]

Is... was that Makishima-san?!

[He has no idea what he's doing, literally and figuratively, as Makishima just wanders through this bizarre otaku wonderland of Onoda's- Sakamichi's, known as Akihabara. It still feels as overwhelming as the first time he brought their team there, maybe even more-so, because he's alone and he has no clue where he's going or what he's looking at or where he's even supposed to be. All because he decided to make a surprise trip back to his hometown for Onoda's birthday. He didn't bring any sort of souvenir, mostly because he didn't know just what to even bring back. So hey, why not try buying him a gift from his favorite place?

It had sounded so easy at the time, except here he was now, dressed in a very not subtle at all outfit and wandering about like he was completely lost, because he is, and what is he even supposed to get Onoda? He's terrible at gifts to begin with. He barely knows anything about anime so how is he even supposed to decide what to get him? Makishima rubs at his face as he just keeps aimlessly walking. This is hopeless. Maybe he should just leave and buy something from Tadokoro's family's bakery.]
