and this is how it feels to take a fall.
[oikawa had waited till just about everyone on the team went home before he collapsed pathetically on the bench in the locker room. the sting of the loss was.... very hard for oikawa to swallow. he knew he wouldn't hold a grudge over karasuno, after all they did play a really good game. no, the person he was the most upset at was himself. he was the main reason why they had lost today. after everything his teammates did to keep the ball in motion, he was the one who took it away from them. he was the reason why they weren't advancing in the spring tournament. he's the reason why he won't be able to defeat ushijima and shiratorizawa.
he had done his best to keep it together and to hold it in for his teammates. as the team captain it probably wouldn't... bode well if he lost it in the middle of the court. and the one thing he wanted to show was that he could graciously lose to kageyama. the only good thing about making pleasantries with the other team was that it was kind of put him in a different mind space. it took him to a place where he wasn't tearing down and rerunning those last few plays in his head and focusing on what he could have done better to improve. at least he was able to keep it together to give a parting speech they had at the end of their team meeting in the locker room.
but once everyone filed out he sort of just stuck behind. he even had to shoo iwa-chan away. because like hell was he going to fall apart in front of his best friend. he couldn't do it.
he grips his knee as he sniffles quietly to himself. and, before he knew it... the tears started falling down his cheeks.]
